How We Work Together

At Remake The Rules, engagements are not one-size-fits-all. Modern problems are fluid, and solving them requires a partner who can move between high-level vision and technical execution.

I work with individuals and organizations through three complementary roles. Depending on your specific friction points, I show up as your high-level strategist, your technical builder, or your systems guide.

The Three Pillars of Support

1. Strategic Leadership & Governance

This work is about high-level alignment and translation. When an organization has complex information needs but lacks executive technical oversight, I step in to bridge the gap.

  • The intent: Providing executive-level technical oversight for organizations that need senior strategy without the full-time executive cost.

  • When to engage: When your departments are siloed, your tools don’t "talk" to each other, when you need to translate high-level technical information for diverse audiences, or you need an advocate to negotiate with third-party software providers.

  • The focus: Aligning technology with your mission, ensuring legislative compliance, and creating long-term roadmaps for institutional integrity.

  • The impact: You gain the clarity and advocacy of a senior technology executive on a part-time basis.

This work operates similar to a Chief Information Officer, read more about the modern Fractional CIO model here.

2. Technical Implementation

This is the "under the hood" work where strategy becomes functional. I weave together information flows from a variety of vendors and partners. I dive into the architecture to clean "messy" data, fix broken dashboards, and ensure that your technical environment provides a "single source of truth" rather than digital noise.

  • The intent: Turning "big picture" ideas into "ground-level" evidence and functional tools.

  • When to engage: When you have "piles of information" but no clarity. I dive into the architecture to clean data, fix dashboards, and rebuild broken digital workflows.

  • The focus: System reality checks, decision-flow mapping, and building the actual tools that carry your strategy forward.

  • The impact: Disconnected tools become a cohesive system that supports, rather than obstructs, your daily operations.

This work operates similar to a Senior-Level, Lead Data Analyst.

3. Choicetech Literacy & Coaching

This work is focused on human agency. In a world where software defaults and algorithms often dictate our behavior, we must learn to see the invisible architecture surrounding our choices. I work with you to understand and build new patterns of decision-making that effectively integrate and collaborate with your digital information tools. We identify where your tools are driving your outcomes, and we develop the literacy needed to regain control.

  • The intent: Teaching leaders, teams, and individuals how to "read" the digital environments that dictate their choices.

  • When to engage: When the tools are overwhelming the humans. I help you see the "defaults" and "nudges" built into your software so you can regain control of your decision-making.

  • The focus: Coaching, workshops, and building the capacity to navigate a tech-saturated world with intention.

  • The impact: You move from reactive frustration to intentional navigation, ensuring that you and your team—not the software—are in charge of the choices.

This role operates as a Choicetech Literacy Educator and Coach.

Likely Paths: How We Combine these Pillars

No problem exists in a vacuum. Most engagements involve a combination of these roles tailored to who you are and what you are trying to solve.

The Institutional Resilience Path

For building resilient institutions.

  • Best for: Smaller public safety departments, non-profits, and municipalities.

  • The mix: Strategic Leadership & Governance + Technical Implementation.

  • Example: A small police department needs to modernize their data reporting. I act as the CIO to translate legislative information transparency requirements for the Chief and City Manager, while simultaneously acting as the lead data analyst to weave together data from dispatch software and records management vendors into a clean, transparent dashboard.

The Process Design Path

For designing better processes.

  • Best for: Small business owners, hiring managers, and solopreneurs.

  • The mix: Systems Integration + Choicetech Literacy & Coaching.

  • Example: A founder is overwhelmed by a messy hiring process. I act as the lead data analyst to audit and fix the workflow within their Applicant Tracking System, while acting as the choicetech educator to help the team identify how "automated filters" might be causing them to miss out on the best talent.

The Human Centered Path

For recentering the human.

  • Best for: Executives who feel confounded by their data tools, Online Daters and Individuals navigating tech-saturated choices.

  • The mix: Choicetech Literacy & Coaching + Strategic Leadership & Governance.

  • Example: An online dater feels burnt out by the apps. We build choicetech literacy to see how the app’s design is nudging them toward choice inflation and worse outcomes. We then apply a strategic lens to build a personal "decision roadmap" that aligns their swiping habits with their actual goal of finding a partner.

Logistics & Sustainability

To keep the work sustainable and high-impact, I distinguish between presence-based strategy and remote-based implementation:

  • Consulting & Coaching Rates: Apply to Strategic Leadership, Choicetech Literacy sessions, and all In-Person work.

  • Digital Add-On Rates: Apply specifically to remote Systems Integration and technical implementation work (the "building" phase).

The Sliding Scale

I am committed to making this work accessible across different funding levels. I offer a tiered sliding scale for both Individuals and Organizations to ensure that high-quality technical and strategic support isn't gatekept by budget. View the Sliding Scale & Pricing Guide here.
