Meet Emily

Hi, I'm Emily. I’m an information professional with a passion for decision science, high-reliability design, and enhancing complex human-software ecosystems. I thrive on tackling messy, complicated, and opaque mega-problems where technology, human behavior, and decision-making overlap. There’s nothing quite like diving into the intricate dynamics of how people interact with and make sense of the systems around them.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when Remake The Rules began to take shape in my mind. Over the years, I’ve navigated some of the most challenging and consequential social and technological spheres, where my leadership, knowledge, and technical expertise distilled into one critical realization: it’s not always about creating new information tools but about evolving how we understand and use the ones we have. Sometimes, tremendous improvements come not from adding more tools but from enhancing our approach to the ones already at our disposal.

As I reflected on these insights, I noticed similar patterns in my personal life. The advent of new, society-rocking technologies has brought novel information systems into everyone’s lives, and we are all still grappling with how to adapt to these changes. The central question became clear: In a world brimming with potentially valuable information, how must we change to maximize our chances of success—whatever that success might look like for each individual?

These messy, human-tech challenges are present in increasingly more aspects of life. My favorites? Navigating the complexities of online dating, building an effective hiring process, and strategic decision-making. Each of these areas requires a nuanced and novel understanding of how to leverage information systems to align with personal and organizational goals.

Through Remake The Rules, I focus on recentering humans and their decision-making as the central force in the successful implementation of powerful information tools. My goal is to help people interrogate and improve the social technologies that profoundly impact their lives. I teach them to use probabilistic thinking to reimagine and craft successful processes and create meaningful, personalized solutions in a tech-saturated.

Outside of my professional life, I love design of all kinds, big conversations about even bigger ideas, exploring cities, enjoying the company of sweet puppers, and the exuberant destruction of harmful and oppressive systems.

You don’t have to figure this out alone.

Let’s talk about where you are, what’s not working, and how to rethink your decision-making for the modern information age.
